Our School

Since 1969, the lives of young children and their families have been enriched by Parkminster's preschool program. Parkminster Presbyterian Church offers the community this non-profit preschool for children of all faiths.

Our Purpose

At Parkminster Preschool we trust that your child's first school experience will be happy and successful in a unique way for him or her. Our program is based on the premise that young children learn best through direct experiences that are rich and varied.

The preschool provides an environment especially equipped for a young child. Here, he or she can grow socially, emotionally, physically and cognitively under the guidance of qualified teachers.

The school supports your child's spiritual growth by providing Christian staff who seek and follow Christ's example.

Our Day

Each day's schedule provides structure and a familiar routine, but remains flexible to meet the needs of the day. Our room is full of opportunities for creative play, allowing children to develop skills appropriate to their individual needs.

The core of each session is the free activity time when children may choose:

  • Blocks and climbers
  • Housekeeping area
  • Science discovery table
  • Art projects
  • Library corner
  • Puppets

Group experiences are included as a part of each day with meeting time, music and movement, snack and story time.

Outdoor play is a regular part of the program. A large fence-enclosed playground provides space for running, climbing, digging and imaginative play.

Several field trips are arranged each year to enhance new learning experiences.
